What is a special needs trust?

A Special Needs Trust is a trust designed to preserve government benefits for someone that has some kind of disability. It’s designed to be funded either through a first party or a third party. The first party trust is with funds of the person who is the special needs person and the third party trust is funds funded through assets of another person and they’re designed to preserve the government benefits that the specials needs person may be receiving.
