How does a power of attorney terminate?

A power of attorney can terminate in several different ways. It can be revoked with an actual document revoking it signed by two witnesses and a notary, typically recorded. It terminates upon your death. It also can be terminated through a guardianship proceeding. Because the court can decide that that durable power of attorney should be permanently suspended and replaced with a guardian to make your financial decisions for you.
