Should I have a power of attorney for healthcare?

I recommend that you have a power of attorney for healthcare decision because it authorizes that person to act on your behalf with regard to planning for your particular medical need. The power of attorney, however, would be limited to the medical decisions and those decisions that relate to your medical care, for example, putting you in a facility that would care for you the best and assisting with the Medicaid planning that you may need or government benefit planning or exercising rights under a long-term care policy.
